Eggs are consumed all over the world as a fairly cheap and easily obtainable source of protein to the daily diet. The simple egg can be cooked in a number of different ways - some of which are recognised worldwide, while others are used mainly as local delicacies. Salt and pepper are indispensable when eating all types of eggs while chives, onions, ketchup and tomatoes bring more enjoyment to most egg recipes. Scrambled Eggs

Beat a couple of eggs with a little water or milk. Add salt and pepper and pour into a hot frying pan. As soon as the eggs begin to stiffen, stir the mixture to keep from burning. Fry the scrambled eggs for a few minutes until they go slightly brown.

    Omelet

Beat a couple of eggs with a little milk or water. Add chopped onions, mushrooms, chilis or other vegetables to taste along with salt and pepper. Pour into a hot frying pan and let the omelet stiffen before flipping it to fry the other side. Some times a little cheese is grated into one half of the omelet before folding it together.

    Hard Boiled Egg

Boil an intact egg for around 10 minutes depending on the size of the egg.

Boil an intact egg for around 5 minutes depending on the size of the egg.

  • 7th

    Deep Fried Egg

Heat a pot of oil until a small piece of bread will turn brown in a few seconds. Break an egg into the pot, pull the white around the yolk with two wooden spoons and deep fry until the egg starts to turn brown. Put the deep-fried egg on a paper towel to drain and eat while hot.

  • 8th

    Devil Egg

Boil an intact egg for around 10 minutes depending on the size of the egg. Cool the egg, peel it and slice it in half. Scoop up the yolk into a bowl and mash. Mix the mashed yolk with mayonnaise, basil, a little mustard, salt and pepper. Fill the yolk mixture back into the egg white and top with sliced onion.

  • 9th

    Century Egg

Bury an egg in wet clay for several weeks or months. This causes the yolk to turn green and cream-like while the white becomes jelly-like with a transparent dark brown colour. Century eggs are usually eaten without further preparation, but can be hard boiled before consumption.

  • 10th

    Raw Eggs

Break an egg into a glass and drink it immediately. Often used as a quick means of getting large quantities of protein.
